Aberdeen City Council, in collaboration with the NewBusFuel, HyTransit and High V.LO-City projects, is hosting the Aberdeen Hydrogen Summit from the 15th to the 17th of March 2017.

Aberdeen is home to Europe’s largest hydrogen fuel cell bus fleet, with 10 buses operating on the City’s roads, supported by the UK’s largest fully integrated renewable hydrogen production and refuelling station. As a leader in hydrogen technology development, Aberdeen is hosting a series of events during the 2017 Hydrogen Week to further support and share learning on hydrogen technologies. Local authorities, fleet operators, industry partners and policy makers are invited to discuss the future of hydrogen transport in Aberdeen and in the rest of Europe.

Programme:

15th of March, morning: Tour of Kittybrewster station – Aberdeen’s first refuelling station

15th of March, afternoon: NewBusFuel Public Launch Workshop: presenting findings from 13 large-scale hydrogen refuelling engineering studies. Followed by networking drinks

Agenda 15.03.17

16th of March: Towards clean public transport with hydrogen: conference on fuel cell electric buses

Agenda 16.03.17

17th of March, morning: ACHES Open Day- Aberdeen’s second refuelling station – tour of station

The High V.LO-City project is co-organising conference on fuel cell electic buses on the 16th of March.

Europe is rapidly expanding the demonstration of fuel cell hydrogen buses in regular public transport services in several cities across the continent. The High V.LO-City and HyTransit projects are demonstrating 20 fuel cell electric buses in 3 cities in Europe. With almost two years of operation and more than 830.000 km travelled by the buses in the projects, the daily operation of the buses is proving that fuel cell electric buses can be put in operation with the same level of efficiency and flexibility as diesel buses.

The event will present the first conclusions which can be drawn from the projects and discuss remaining challenges for large scale deployment of fuel cell buses in Europe.
