In Antwerp, 5 fuel cell buses will operate in the city’s public transport network and in the villages around the city.

The buses are currently in testing phases, and are planned for delivery in spring 2014, along with the refuelling infrastructure, which will be located at the premises of the international chemical group Solvay. Solvay will be producing the necessary hydrogen to be used as fuel for the buses. The chemical group will produce the hydrogen as a by product from the existing chlore-alkaline production.
